An Open Letter to Vladimir Nabokov

Dear Mr. Nabokov,

I really admire that, even though English was your third language, you still use words like "dirndled" and "fructuate." I'm only up to page 63 of Lolita, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

Love,
Julia

Julia,
I have had a love affair with dear Vlad for quite a few years now. I hope you enjoy Lolita. Are you reading the annotated version?
It was lovely to see you this weekend.

Ahh lolita, Nabakov has away of strangling you with the length of some of his sentences...yet despite the length the richness and complexity of what he describes makes you feel that he has been too concise. I have had to read many parts over and over to really understand what the hell he is talking about, that is a talent for a man for whom english is not his first tongue!

Michelle: Yes, I believe Vlad and I are beginning a love affair of our own. And no, I'm not reading the annotated version, but I really wish I was.

It was great to see you too, let's do it again (for longer) in December. I hope you enjoyed the pumpkin thing!

Vogl: I totally agree. No matter how confusing it is, he has so much fun with words, you can't help but enjoy it.
